The Renjo La is one of the most thrilling trekking areas in the Everest region. The challenging trails to undertake in this area is short route enables trekkers who have limited time to discover the most famous natural spots of Nepal, and do this adventure trek, set among breath-taking high mountain surroundings. This route goes through the Khumbu heartlands of Sherpa community, and also offers an eye-catching panorama of the Solukhumbu region including Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (5816m), Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) , Nuptse (7855m), Mt. Pumori (7145m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m), Mt. Thamserku (6723m) and other mountains of this region.This trek is designed as designed 15day itinerary for the Renjo La pass trek with your arrival and departure days plus a day tour in Kathmandu, this trek starts with an exciting tour of the Valley which offers a glimpse of its World Heritage Sites along with busy marketplaces then we enjoy a brief morning flight to the starting point of our trek to Lukla, a Sherpa village in a mountain setting. This trek follows a steep river valley through Namche Bazaar after taking a day of rest in Namche. The journey to the Gokyo Valley follows north up to the Dudh Koshi valley then we reach the serene Gokyo lakes.
The Gokyo peak (5480m) ascent is one of the famous tourist attractions of this circuit. We automatically hold up & rest for some time to enjoy the unbelievable sceneries including magnificent views of Everest (8848m), Makalu, Cho Oyu (8153m) and Lhotse (8511m), to name a few, The Renjo La Pass trek route runs off the usual beaten track.
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1350m).
Your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu will be eagerly awaited by our representative for welcoming you warmly in the country. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Thamel. The drive will be via chartered vehicle for approx. 25 minutes and it will go through intricate streets of Kathmandu city. In the evening, there will be pre-trip briefing in your hotel complex. If the briefing will have been completed previously, then you will be free to do your own thing, or else our representative will be with you and be available to you for suggesting you optional city excursion or even a suitable restaurant for your wonderful evening meal.
Day 2: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2810m, 45 minute’s flight, approx. 3.5 hour’s trek).
Today, we will have a very early flight (approx. 6:30 am) from Kathmandu to Lukla. This sometimes will perhaps involve a period of waiting around, so brining a book in your daypack will be very useful to you. The flight will be both dramatic and scenic and if the weather will be clear that day, then the views of Himalayas from the small airplane will be absolutely amazing. Upon our arrival in Lukla, we shall have our delicious breakfast followed by a short safety talk and introduction to our porters from the surrounding villages. And once we shall have gone through these, our trek will kick off which will go through Lukla’s market awhile and out of Lukla shortly. The trail today will be gently ascent, which will follow against the Dudh Koshi River (River of Milk – as the glacier melt water makes it appear pale) on our left hand side, and go through sparse tea-houses that will offer us wonderful tea break. Along the trekking trail to Phakding, we shall have pleasant views of magnificent snow-capped mountains on either side at the backdrop. One thing that we shall notice here besides geographical changes compared to Kathmandu will be people in this reason who are known as Sherpa and who emigrated from Tibet some 500 years ago. Their dresses are similar to the Tibetans so as their language.
Day 3: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3445m, approx. 6.5 hour’s trek).
This morning after breakfast at Phakding, our trek will resume and follow against the Dudh Koshi River all the way till lunch. We shall continue to ascend gently, traverse a last suspension bridge high above the same river and go through a steep ascent trial until Namche Bazaar. But before arriving in the Bazaar, we shall be able to see the first glimpse of Everest peeking through between Lotse and Nuptse. Namche is the administrative centre of the Khumbu Region and it will be your last time to check your equipment as there will be no other such places to hire or even buy additional gear for high altitude onwards.
Day 4: Namche Bazaar to Kyangjuma (3550m, 2 hour’s trek).
Today, our trek will be bit easier. We shall pass a beautiful Stupa with the nice view of Everest and Lotse at the background. Upon arriving here, we shall relax and enjoy the views of surrounding areas.
Day 5: Dole (4200m, 5 hour’s trek).
This will be another short day for acclimatization to the altitude. The trial will climb steeply out of valley through rhododendron forest and juniper. Our trek will progress so as the elevation. Before arriving in Dole, we shall go past Kharkas and summer settlements of Dole, not to mention the magnificent views of Khumbu La and Tawache seen from throughout the valley.
Day 6: Dole to Machherma (4470m 4 hour’s trek).
The trek will be via steep climb in most places and through Kharkas where there will be flat spots to reach Macchermao. Upon arriving here, we shall relax and enjoy the views of surrounding areas.
Day 7: Machherma Acclimatization day
Hiking up to 5000m (approximately 5 hrs)
Day 8: Machherma to Gokyo (4750m, 5 hour’s trek).
The trail will climb a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kengtega and up towards Cho-Oyu. Thereafter it will descend to a river and again climb steeply to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpz glacier. A few lakes will appear on the trail before finally reaching Gokyo, which is a collection of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of the large lake.
Day 9: Gokyo to Gokyo-Ri come down to Gokyo (5360m, 4 hour’s trek).
The mountain views in the Gokyo Region will be spectacular. A two-hour’s climb on Gokyo Ri and the small peak above the lake will provide us with panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawache.
Day 10: Gokyo to Renjo La Pass (5360m) and down to Lumde 4380m, 9 hour’s trek).
In the early morning after breakfast, we shall climb Renjo La Pass. This is a really nice high pass in Everest Region and it has become more popular these days. In the last few years, this area used to see Camping/tented basis trek only but now a days, it sees tea-house trek as well. And on the same day, we shall trek down to Lumde, which will be approx. 9 hour’s trek.
Day 11: Lumde to Thame (3800m, 6 hour’s trek).
It will be an easy day from Lumde to Thame. In Thame, we shall visit Monastry in a nice Sherpa village. Upon our arrival here, we shall relax and enjoy the views of surrounding areas.
Day 12: Thame to Manju (2835m, 3 hour’s trek).
Today, the trek will be all the way down to Manju and easy as well. It will take about 3 hours for us to get there. Upon arriving here, we shall relax and enjoy the views of surrounding areas.
Day 13: Manju to Lukla (5 hour’s trek).
This day, we shall trek down to Lukla and enjoy the evening to our full extent.
Day 14: Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu.
After breakfast, we shall fly back to Kathmandu and will be transferred to our hotel in Thamel. The rest of the day will be free to do your own thing. Or else, our representative will be there with you and be available to you for suggesting you your wonderful day and your lovely evening meal.
Day 15: Departure.
We shall transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport according to your flight schedule. Our trip will end here.
