Jomsom Muktinath is situated at the altitude of 2743m 3710m respectively is one of the energizing treks. Located in the Mustang district, Nepal. The trek has to offer the close-range view of Annapurna (8091m, 26545ft) and Dhaulagiri (8167m, 24786ft) with the never-ending company of Kali Gandaki River to our journey. Thakali and Gurung are main inhabitants of this region with Magars and Gurung accompany till poon hill trek. The sunrise and sunset view that shine on the high peaks like Dhaulagiri and Annapurna is mesmerizing. You’ll come across different villages, suspended bridges, waterfalls, and Forests with scenic beauty all along.

Muktinath temple should be visited once in a lifetime with its legendary status carrying religious and cultural importance for both Hindu and Buddhist. This valley is also known as apple kingdom so you can taste the organic apple and apple wines. Also, the Thakali food has its own significance.

 Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu

Our representative will receive you at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and will transfer you to the hotel. If you are fresh enough and not tired by a journey, you can take a short walk over Thamel and enjoy the evening. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing

Our tour and trekking plan begins from the second day of your arrival and that is today! You visit Kathmandu which is also known as a city of Temples with an experienced English speaking guide. Primarily, there are four touring destinations in Kathmandu such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Swoyambhunath stupa (Monkey temple) and Boudhanath stupa. All of these places are UNESCO listed World Heritage Site. On this day, Adventure Challange Centre will introduce you with your trekking guide and he will brief you about trekking. Similarly, you can experience the nightlife of Kathmandu and enjoy a local meal, if interested. Overnight in a hotel. You can experience the nightlife of Kathmandu. There will be a pre-trip discussion with your mountain climbing Sherpa guides for the good preparation of the trek.

Day 03: Drive to Nayapul (Pokhara) and Trek to Tikhedhunga

After breakfast, early in the morning, we leave Kathmandu for Pokhara. We will travel in a private vehicle or a tourist bus. It is a beautiful ride of around six or seven hours where you will enjoy the countryside of Nepal. You will go along Trishuli River. The view of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountain before entering Pokhara will make your trip worthy. By noon you will be at Pokhara—City of Lakes. Nayapul is an hour drive from Pokhara and it is the starting point of our Jomsom Trekking. Tikhedhunga is our destination today where we will spend a night. 15 minutes walk along the bank of Modi Khola (river) will take us to Birethanti. There are many tea shops and teahouses here. Furthermore, we follow the north bank course of Bhurungdi Khola. A steady climb will take us to Hille and Tikhedhunga is a short climb from here.

Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Our trail begins after breakfast and Ulleri is our first destination today. Located at an altitude of 2,070 m Ulleri is a village with a majority of Magar people. They are one of the indigenous people of Nepal. We move up and up to reach Banthanti. Crossing beautiful forests of oak and rhododendron we arrive at Nangethanti. An hour walk further walk will take us to Ghorepani where we will accommodate today. In past days, Ghorepani used to be a trade route place where people used to take their horse for water. The literal meaning off ‘Ghore’ is Horse and ‘Pani’ refers to water.

Day 05: Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Tatopani

Today is a special day. We rise early in the morning and walk an hour to reach Poon Hill. It is a worldwide renowned hill station popular for sunrise/sunset view. Besides, to experience the clear and unobstructed beauty of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, it is a right destination. It is a place where you find yourself above clouds. We will spend around an hour here. We return to Ghorepani for breakfast. Tatopani is our destination today where we will put off. Following descend trail, we reach Chitre at first. Sikha will be our next immediate destination where there are a lot of hotels and shops. Now the trail descends to Ghara. We reach Ghara Khola. We cross the suspension bridge over the Ghara Khola. We now head towards Kaligandaki River and finally arrive at Tatopani. The word Tatopani comprises of two words—Tato and Pani. Tato is a Nepali word for hot and Pani is for water. It is a place of hot spring that is why it is called Tatopani.

Day 06: Tatopani to Kalopani

We follow the route of Kaligandaki Gorge today. It is world’s deepest gorge situated in between two eight-thousanders, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. With gently up going we reach at Dana. Further steps will take us to Rupse Chhahara where you view beautiful Waterfall. Kopchepani is our next immediate destination. We cross a suspension bridge and a short climb will lead us to Ghasa. Now we ascend to reach Lete and from here Kalopani is around an hour away. Before reaching Kalopani, there comes a spot from where you will enjoy Nilgiri peak. The view really captures your heart.

Day 07: Kalopani to Marpha

Our trekking begins by crossing a river couple of times before entering Larjung. We reach Khobang. Tukuche is our next immediate destination. It is a Thakali village where we will have our lunch. Our uphill climb continues. We pass through the gorge of Kaligandaki and the breeze increases here. Passing through Tibetan refugee center and a horticulture research station we reach Marpha where we will spend our night. Like Tukuche, Marpha is also a Thakali village where there are many tea houses. The houses built here are typical. Flat roof and whitewashed buildings here attract many tourists. You will visit Nyingmapa Buddhist Gompa at Marpha.

Day 08: Marpha to Kagbeni

The trail to Kagbeni from Marpha is really awe-inspiring. We enter inside Jomsom Valley. Jomsom is an administrative center. It is a large settlement with army camp, hotels, airport and much other business and financial hubs. We further move towards Eklai Bhatti following the course along a river to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is a junction of the Jhong Khola and Kaligandaki.

Day 09: Kagbeni to Muktinath

Leaving Kagbeni behind, we head up towards Jhong Khola Valley. We get connected with the route that will take us to Muktinath. Jharkot is a place where we will take lunch. Muktinath is our next immediate and final destination. It is at an altitude of 3,800m. Ranipaua is the place where we will spend a night and Muktinath is around 10 minutes away from here. Muktinath is a holy shrine for both—Hindus and Buddhist. Many Tibetan Buddhists and Sadhus from Nepal and India are seen here. They practice meditation, ashans (posture) and chant mantras to attain enlightenment. Nearby Muktinath there is a temple of Lord Vishnu called Jwalamai and a Gompa.

Day 10: Trek back to Jomson

After visiting Muktinath, we retrace the route to Jomsom. You feel ecstatic while descending. The mountains, forests, and cool breeze will touch your heart and Jomsom Trekking will surely make space in it.

Day 11: Fly back to Pokhara

From Jomsom, we catch a flight to Pokhara. It is a 20 minutes scenic flight where you will enjoy mountains, lake, greenery, and lakes. Today we will stay in Pokhara and enjoy the City of lakes. The lake sidewalk and the view of Davis fall will refresh you.

Day 12: Drive back to Kathmandu

Today, early in the morning after breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu. We will follow the same route which took us to Pokhara a week ago. You will enjoy the evening with the staff of Adventure Challange Centre as the company will offer you farewell dinner for the successfully accomplishing the trip.

Day 13: Back to your destination

Here ends your Jomsom Trekking today. Our representative will drop you at the airport three hours before a scheduled flight to your onward destination. See you again!!
